This image is an icon of St. Teresa of Jesus made by my friend, Sr. Nancy Lee Smith, IHM. Her studio, Saint Joseph Studio, is here in Monroe, MI where I am staying this weekend.

Usually, on a Saint’s Feast Day, I’ll post a quotation that is meaningful to me from her writings. Like with Ignatius though, how do you choose just one thing to share from this Mystic and Doctor of the Church? So here, instead, is a link to the Wikiquote page for Teresa. May you be inspired!

This is my second favorite Taize chant, inspired by the writings of Teresa:

Psalm 103

Lectio, 27 June 2011

God watches over the steps of those who do justice; but those on a path of violence and injustice will find themselves irretrievably lost.
Psalm 1:6

Lectio, 10 March 2011

“Jesus replied, ‘The reign of God doesn’t come in a visible way. You can’t say ‘See, here it is!’ or ‘There it is!’ No — look: the reign of God is already in your midst.” Lk 17:20-21

It is my prayer not that I will see the reign of God around me, but that others might see the reign of God through me. May I be a means of justice and peace in the world.

Nada te turbe;
nada te espante;
todo se pasa;
Dios no se muda,
la paciencia
todo lo alcanza.
Quien a Dios tiene,
nada le falta.
Solo Dios basta.

May nothing disturb you.
May nothing astonish you.
Everything passes.
God does not go away.
Patience
can attain anything.
He who has God within,
does not lack anything.
God is enough!
